Nanoose Bay gutter cleaning

Gutter Cleaning for Nanoose Bay's Waterfront and View Homes

View homes on coves and points take the Strait's wind on their tallest walls. We clear those gutters and check the fixings that salt air works on first.

1000+ happy customers

More than a thousand customers have had us out to clear their gutters.

  • Downspouts cleared and flushed, then checked for flow before we leave
  • All debris collected as we work and taken away with us
  • A look at hangers, seams and fascia while we are up at the roof edge
  • Anything we spot reported to you, whether or not it becomes more work
  • Houses, townhouses, strata, commercial and multi-unit buildings

Along the Nanoose shoreline, houses are built to face the water. That makes sense for the view and less for the gutters, because the side that looks out over the Strait of Georgia is also the side that takes the weather. The tallest wall on the house, the longest gutter run and the worst of the wind all end up in the same place.

We clean gutters and downspouts across Nanoose Bay: in Fairwinds around the golf course and Schooner Cove, along the Beachcomber shore, at Red Gap, and out on the points and coves where the roads end.

Coves and points, not one long beach

The Nanoose shoreline breaks up into small bays and headlands: Arab Cove, Tyee Cove, Cottam Point, Madrona Point. A house on a point can be open to wind from two or three sides, and gusts curl around the roof and push water up and over the outer lip of the gutter. Rain arrives sideways here. A trough that copes with a straight downpour can still spill when the same amount of water is driven across it.

That is why we do not stop at emptying the trough. We check that each run still falls toward its downspout, because a gutter that has settled flat or tipped backward holds water in exactly the wrong spot.

Salt, screws and hangers

Aluminum gutters handle sea air well. The steel bits holding them up are a different matter. Screws, older spikes and some hangers rust slowly when they sit in salty spray year after year, and once a few let go on a windward run, the next storm starts pulling the gutter off the fascia. While we are cleaning, we look along those fixings. If something has loosened or corroded, we tell you and quote the repair.

Arbutus on the rock

Nanoose is dry, rocky ground in many spots, the kind arbutus likes. Madrona is the American name for the same tree, and it grows on these points. Arbutus does not wait for October. It sheds curls of red bark and stiff, leathery leaves through the summer, and they stack up in a trough while you are not thinking about gutters at all. Add Douglas fir on the slopes behind, around Notch Hill and up from Northwest Bay Road, and a house can collect debris in every season.

Why choose us

Why choose us for gutter cleaning in nanoose bay

We read the exposure

Before quoting, we look at which walls face the water and the prevailing wind, because those runs are the ones that fail.

Fixings checked, not just troughs

Screws and hangers on a windward run get a look while we clean, so a loose one is caught before the gutter sags.

Complex roofs, done patiently

Valleys, dormers and high gables take longer. We plan for that in the quote rather than rushing the hard corners.

Insured and guaranteed

We are insured and WCB-registered, with more than ten years of work on Vancouver Island rooflines and a guarantee behind it.

Big rooflines in Fairwinds

Fairwinds began in 1981 as a planned community built around an eighteen-hole course and a marina, and many of its houses have generous rooflines: multiple gables, dormers, valleys and high walls on the downhill side of a view lot. Each valley funnels debris to one point on the gutter below, and that corner is where most overflow starts. We work those spots by hand and flush every outlet. If a roof is better suited to gutter guards, we will say so and explain why.

Got questions?

Nanoose Bay gutter cleaning FAQ

We are away part of the year. Can you clean the gutters while we are gone?

Yes. We work outside the house and do not need anyone home, only access to the yard and a clear idea of which roofs to do. Let us know about gates, alarms on outbuildings or anything fragile under the eaves, and we will send word once the job is done.

Our roof has a lot of valleys and dormers. Does that change the job?

It adds time, and the valleys are where it matters most. Where two roof planes meet, needles and leaves slide down and pile up at the gutter below, often enough to block an outlet on their own. We clear those points carefully because that is where overflow usually starts on a complicated roof.

Is it worth putting guards on a house this close to the water?

It depends on the trees more than the water. A house on an open point with little overhead canopy may not need guards at all. A house tucked under fir or arbutus often does better with them. We look at what is actually landing in your gutters before suggesting anything.

Do you work in the Fairwinds strata areas?

Yes. For a strata building we can quote the whole complex through the council or the manager, and work through each unit's gutters in a single visit. Individual owners in Fairwinds and elsewhere in Nanoose Bay can book with us directly too.
